Old Age = Drastic Change


If you are a senior citizen and you have been wondering about the drastic changes that had happened through the years, then you have come to right place!

A lot of changes has definitely and will definitely be coming to you as the years go by, may it be physically, mentally, socially or emotionally. But what matters most is that you keep a healthy lifestyle despite the appearance of those wrinkles and age spots.

These are some of the changes that might have happened to you over the years as you reach your 50’s or 60’s:

    1.  Loss of Hair
    2. Your hair changes to color gray or white
    3. Less sense of hearing
    4. Poor eyesight
    5. Reduced ability to clear thinking
    6. Slower movements and reactions at times

Changes in the senses:

Vision- As you get old, proteins in the lens change and its elasticity is reduced that is why a  lot of old aged people have trouble focusing their eyes and may have problems when it comes to color vision. Other problems that elderly individual encounters are glaucoma, mascular degeneration, presbyopia.

Taste- Old aged people usually have impairment in the ability to taste that is caused by factors such as medications that they need, reduction of number of taste buds, and dentures that cover taste buds on the soft palat

Hearing-A lot of elderly individuals suffer from hearing loss that may have been resulted from Degeneration of hair cells and support cells in the cochlea and loss of neurons in auditory areas of the brain.

 One thing that is also affected by these drastic changes is your memory. You see, Memory tends to becomes less efficient with as you get older since the number of cells in the brain decreases.

Now that you are in the group of old age, you may suffer or you may find it to learn about new things or remember words or names that seem familiar to you before.  So to keep your memory sharp even at your old age, it would be best for you to include in your daily routine physical activities that exercises not only your bones and muscles but also your mind and keep a healthy diet also.
